About this session
Young gymnasts are often reluctant to report pain during training. Some do not recognise that what they feel is unusual. Others worry about missing competitions or losing their spot in the group. The result is that overuse injuries accumulate quietly until they become serious enough to require extended time off.
What the clinic addresses
The session runs jointly for athletes and parents, which tends to change the dynamic around how pain gets discussed at home and at the gym. When both parties understand the same information, athletes are more likely to report early discomfort rather than push through it.
Growth-related vulnerability
During growth spurts, bone grows faster than the surrounding soft tissue. This creates temporary periods where stress on growth plates is higher than usual, and gymnastics training during these windows carries specific risks. The clinic covers how to identify these periods and what adjustments make sense.
A physiotherapist leads the session and answers questions directly from athletes, which usually produces more honest conversation than adult-only formats. Parents receive a simple reference card they can use to track complaints over time, making it easier to notice patterns rather than isolated incidents.
Registration note
Each ticket covers one athlete and up to two accompanying adults. The clinic is held in a community gym with full accessibility. No gymnastics experience is required from the adults attending.
